Water birth of Ezra | Bendigo Birth Photographer

May 2016

I want to challenge your version of normal. I knew this family would do it!  When Ren and Oli booked birth photography, I asked if I could actually film there birth instead, though they knew I’d had no experience in film whatsoever, so I was stoked they agreed! I’m ever so grateful they allowed us to enter their space during birth to remind us what is possible!

Let it challenge your thoughts, while it makes you smile.

It was a gentle Autumn day when this family of 5 began to welcome their 5th member (6th if you include the dog). The kids were excited, the dog was quietly assuring, and Dad was making sure normal life continued around them. Mum embraced birth and all that it was. She worked with her body through the strength of birth and let go of all fear. Incredible to witness. 40 mins after I arrived Ezra quietly and gently entered his home. He was surrounded by his loved ones and adoring siblings. Nothing but joy and calm filled the room. My favourite part of this is that his brother and sister got to be a part of such a beautiful event. They were a part of his story and embraced him instantly as one of them.

Soon Ezra was snuggling his Mum on the couch, Dad was cooking tea, Liam was reading a book and life just simply continued so seamlessly and normally.

This is what birth felt like its meant to be. This is what normal is. This is beautiful.
